1 Kings 5-6; 2 Chronicles 2-3: Rest on Every Side Begins With Our Soul

1 Kings 5:4
Amplified Bible (AMP)

But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil confronting me.

Solomon experienced rest on every side.  He had no confrontations or adversaries.  WOW!  Ten years ago, I would not have been able to imagine a season on this earth where this blessing was possible.

But rest on every side can be experienced even when an adversary gets in our face.  Rest can be experienced even as evil's temptations attempt to seduce.  It is possible!

Rest is a state experienced within our souls.  To me a restful soul "feels like" a gently flowing stream on a sunny day.  Birds are singing and the sun is shining.  A restful soul has the ability to take in the beauty of creation, marveling in its complexity and praising its Maker with no stormy racing thoughts or anxious meditations, just Peace ruling it. A restful soul remains at rest because it chooses to remain bonded to Abba's heart.

Thank You for Your rest, Abba!

When a adversary confronts or evil tempts, the restful soul continues to focus its attention its Lover.  Jesus is the Lover of my soul!  Jesus is the Lover of your soul!

I believe rest ultimately manifests by being the personalities He created with all of our unique idiosyncrasies.  He loves who He made us to be, but we can only be who He made us to be as we remain connected to Him!

God made me to be me.

He made you to be you.

And He made us VERY GOOD!!!  Let's rest in that!!!
