Judges 16-18: Right in Our Own Eyes?

Judges 17:6
Amplified Bible (AMP)

"In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes."

Last time, I wrote about Samson's eyes eventually causing his death. Today, we see that Israel as a whole was using their eyes (spiritual judgement) inappropriately.

Israel already had a King! God was their King!!! When the only Perfect, Powerful One in the universe rules, why would Israel need an earthly king?

Could it be that Israel, wanted to do things their own way rather than God's way? How often are we tempted to do things our own way?

My God and King...I want to do things Your way always! I trust in the power of Your Spirit to rise up in me every time I am tempted to go it alone. I know I can't live this life according to my own eyes. I must have Your wisdom, Your strength, Your guidance!!! I submit everything that I am to You, my King!!! In the name of Jesus, AMEN!!!

Turning our palms up to His Will not ours is sometimes difficult. Our focus needs to be steadfast.

Dear Joyful Noise, yes, it is difficult. I love the song "White Flags" by Chris Tomlin. It so beautifully describes how we surrender to Jesus.
