Psalm 95, 97-99: Mountains Melt Like Wax

Psalm 97:5
New King James Version (NKJV)

The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

I picture a huge mountain looming before me. Daunting thoughts consume me when I think about climbing it. How would I scale the near 90 degree steep, rocky side without training, without proper mountain climbing equipment?

Suddenly, I hear a voice, "You don't need to climb that mountain. Sometimes I will ask you to climb a mountain with Me, but not this time. I just want you to rejoice in Me, sing to Me, focus on Me. My Presence will come and melt that mountain just as though it were wax."

I did a search on how wax melts. What I found was amazing!
"Have you ever noticed how you have less candle after burning than before? This is because the wax oxidizes (burns) in the flame to yield water and carbon dioxide, which dissipate in the air around the candle, in a reaction which also yields light and heat. Candle wax (paraffin) is composed of chains of connected carbon atoms surrounded by hydrogen atoms. These hydrocarbon molecules can burn completely. First the heat of the flame vaporizes the wax molecules and then they react with the oxygen in the air. As long as the wax doesn't melt away from the flame, the flame will consume it completely and leave no ash or wax residue." from "Where Does Candle Wax Go?"

Now apply man's chemistry lesson to God's promise. Not only is God promising to melt that mountain of adversity or heartache, He is promising to vaporize it!!! No rocky debris over which to stumble. Just completely consumed by His Presence!!!

My God, You are an AWESOME God!!!

As we focus on God, His Son on the cross, fighting our battles and giving us the victory, the fears also dissipate in HIS Prsence.
