May I Present to You...

Not many of you know this, but Strongman interviewed for a new job last Friday. His informal interview went extremely well last Friday, so well that he was called back for a second interview this past Monday to speak with the owner of the company.

Strongman has worked hard building his own HVAC Company these last twenty years, and in those years he has built a reputation for integrity, as well as, a professional job well done. He did all the work...designing new systems, estimating job costs, building his own duct work, and installing first-rate HVAC systems. He has worked hard to provide for our family! Now comes the pay off. Strongman's experience and reputation has opened the door to another job.

May I present to you, Strongman, HVAC Systems Designer and Technical Support Specialist. He accepted the job today and will be starting first thing on Monday morning. He will be the Design Specialist to call for five of the company's branches. Yeah, Jesus!!!

The awesome thing about all of this is we know it is God's will. With the economy the way it has been, the phone hasn't been ringing. We were praying that the Lord would show us the way to go. It turns out that Strongman had a dream two days before he was told about the job opportunity.

In this dream, Strongman was driving a white jeep, and the boys and I were with him. He told me about the dream, and I felt that the jeep represented his ministry. Now this is how cool Jesus is...a long-time friend of ours was the one who informed Strongman of the opportunity two days after the dream. The jeep he drives was provided for him by his employer, the same employer with which Strongman interviewed. The very same type of jeep Strongman was driving in his dream!! Yes, the jeep represents ministry alright; Strongman's ministry of providing for our family and the Great Provider is the One behind it all!!!

All glory to Jesus, Who always provides!!!

Congratulations! I am glad to hear some good news, for I know people who have been losing jobs recently. :D

I love Apologia. I liked Biology because it was so relevant. That was stuff I could really use! Chemistry was a little boring because I’m not going to use most of it. And I had a hard time with the problems. I would forget how to do them and have to learn it all over again for the test.

Physics on the other hand is fun. Dr. Wile explains things so well (he does in all his books) and I have a knack for understanding how to use formulae. The problems build on each other more than in Chemistry, so if you understand the last concepts in a module, the previous ones are a given.

And the problems are fun! I get to figure out all sorts of things- the weight of things on Mars knowing only the weight on Earth, how much tension is in two strings holding up a sign if the angles are so and so and the sign has a certain mass, how fast a bicyclist is going at the top of the second hill if he started at rest and I know how high the hills are…

The experiments are very simple as well. Most of them involve dropping books on the floor or rolling balls of of tables. Yet they make lots of sense and illustrate the concepts really well.

I just work through the book on my own. I find that I understand everything and don’t have any problems.

I am plannning to do consumer math next year, as I don't really want to go higher than pre-calc. In other words, I haven't any personal experience. We have the A Beka book that my sister used, and I think it is decent. Otherwise, I am a little curious about Math You See's Stewardship course, though I haven't actually seen any of their courses. Sorry I can't be more useful!

Thank you, Maria! I was thinking about checking out A Beka. We used A Beka exclusively until we became involved with homeschool co-ops. I am very familiar with how their lower level math courses are laid out.

Thanks for your insight!!!

I read this last week, but I guess I did not leave a comment.???
That is so cool! It shows how integrity still does make a difference. Sounds like God has big plans to use hubby at his job for His glory! Neat to see how Strongman has honored God with his work.
Praising God with you!
