Luke 1: The Way of Peace

Luke 1:7
(AMP)
 “And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;
For you will go on before the Lord (the Messiah) to prepare His ways;"

Being filled and controlled by the Holy Spirit, Zachariah spoke this prophetic word over his son, thus defining John's important earthly ministry. John, more commonly known as John the Baptist, was a forerunner. His ministry preceded the ministry of Jesus, preparing the people's hearts to meet their Deliverer.

Luke 1:17
(AMP)

"It is he who will go as a forerunner before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers back to the children, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous [which is to seek and submit to the will of God]—in order to make ready a people [perfectly] prepared [spiritually and morally] for the Lord."

Many years ago a man filled with and controlled by the Holy Spirit prophesied over me. I was a baby in spiritual things at that time, but extremely hungry for the Lord. The man said,

"You have the spirit of Elijah. You are a fisher of men."

Luke 1:78 & 79
(AMP)

"Because of the tender mercy of our God,
With which the Sunrise (the Messiah) from on high will dawn and visit us,
To shine upon those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
To guide our feet [in a straight line] into the way of peace and serenity."

The "Way of Peace" is found through the action of walking in a straight line. How does walking in a straight line lead to peace? How does my personal promise from the Lord impact you?

I believe my promise involves pointing out how to walk in a straight line. We all desire peace, yet often we strive to obtain it. Peace is not obtained through striving. Peace is obtained by seeking God's plan for our life, then submitting to that plan. Walking in a straight line is submitting to God's ways, allowing Him to be the One Who directs our life. Not striving to live life according to what we think is right!

Let's walk in a straight line together and find Peace!

Holy Spirit, empower us to hear and see You! Guide us along Your path for our lives and give us the grace to walk straight "into the way of peace and serenity." In Jesus' name, AMEN!
